Mesón Ibérico Puerto Vallarta, Marina Review: Perfect for Friend Dinners and Date Nights

If you’ve been eating your way through Puerto Vallarta and think you’ve already found the heavy hitters, let me introduce you to Mesón Ibérico (reservations are smart)— because this one deserves real attention.

Delish cured meat cut at the table

Now that is a leg…

We came here for a friend dinner, and from the jump, it felt like one of those meals that unfolds slowly in the best way. No rushing, no pressure to order perfectly, just plates meant to be shared and conversation that kept flowing as easily as the drinks.

The paella was better than anything I’ve had in Spain. Its a must order.

Everything we ordered was a 10/10. Truly. But the knockout, the clear star of the table, was the paella.

This is the kind of paella that makes everyone stop talking for a second. The rice was perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and balanced — rich without being heavy, comforting without being boring. You can tell this isn’t an afterthought on the menu. Someone back there knows exactly what they’re doing.

And then there was my dirty martini.

I don’t say this lightly: this was the best dirty martini I’ve had in Puerto Vallarta. Cold, properly dirty, and balanced exactly the way a dirty martini should be. No gimmicks, no weird ratios — just done right.

What really stood out about Mesón Ibérico is how shareable the menu is. Tons of small plates that actually encourage ordering a variety and passing things around. It’s ideal for a group dinner where everyone gets a bite of everything and debates what to order next.

That said, this spot also absolutely works as a date night.

Located in the Marina, it has that slightly calmer, more polished energy compared to busier nightlife areas. It’s intimate without being stuffy, stylish without trying too hard — the kind of place where you can talk, linger, and enjoy the experience without yelling over music. If you’re looking for a solid Marina date night option that still feels special, this is it.

Great celebration for Seth’s birthday, too! Happy Birthday, Seth! :)

We all left full, happy, and already planning when I’m coming back.

Food: 10/10
Every dish hit, but the paella is the must-order. Deep flavor, perfect texture, and clearly made with intention.

Drinks: 10/10
Best dirty martini I’ve had in Puerto Vallarta. Full stop.

Vibe: 10/10
Warm, social, and relaxed. Great for friend dinners and just as strong for a low-key, elevated date night in the Marina.

Will I Go Again: Absolutely…No hesitation. This is officially in my rotation.
