The Best Tacos in Puerto Vallarta: A Local’s Guide to Must-Try Spots
It’s no secret Puerto Vallarta’s food scene isn’t one for the weak. This town is packed with flavors from all different cuisines. If you want Italian, you can get it… if you want really good Thai food… you can get it, but nine-times-out-ten, you’re here for T-A-C-O-S. Well, luckily, you’ve landed in the right place because I’m going to review my favorite spots for tacos in Puerto Vallarta. Most of these locations are in the Zona Romantica area, which is probably where you are staying!
Everyone swears by Pancho’s Takos — while they are absolutely divine, there are other options. But definitely gotta check them out while you’re here.

So, no shade, I love them, but there are just as good for half the time you’re gonna wait in that line. Just down the street, across the park, there is Sonorita’s and that’s my go-to favorite taco spot here y’all.

The service is always top notch and I always have a blast when I’m there. The food is to die for, and super affordable. Recently, I took my cousin Jordan there after we enjoyed the sunset at Conchos Chinas and she said they were the best she’s ever had. Period. I do be knowin’ the spots. Let me put you on to more of my favorite restaurants here.

So I tried something different, too, my usual order is the 3x al pastor but this time I opted for a big back baked potato instead lol. And, I could only eat half of it.

They also have really good agua frescas. Mostly EVERYWHERE. Always ask and try the different flavors. Now, I know there may be some people out there that want fish or shrimp tacos. I’ve got you covered, don’t worry.
And, I wanted to share a pic of the Al Pastor tacos up close and personal, too… They are SO GOOD. So flavorful:

The first stop we’re going to showcase in the seafood department is Marisma Seafood, take a look at these stunning fish and shrimp tacos below:

So, so, so, good! The staff are very friendly, too. Just a note, don’t try and go here for a late dinner, they often times are more of a lunch or early dinner spot as they close before 6PM usually.
Don Chava: Venustiano Carranza 212
This spot is. chill and I haven’t been to the new location yet, in the old Parrot Fish location but this was delicious. And, that oaxacan cheese is sooo good. I love how salty and creamy it is. It makes for the perfect taco, with al pastor, of course.
Tuna Azul: Calle Francisca Rodriguez 155
Calmate Cafe: C. Honduras 218

This is my SPOT!!!! When I want breakfast and want healthy vibes this is where I go. I love the vibe there and once I forgot cash and they let me come back the next day. They’re really nice and the food is organic and tastes so fresh and good.
These are so light and filling — the perfect treat before a beach day. I love Tuna Azul because of how good their dishes are with seafood. They make incredible seafood dishes. Even apps! For real. So damn good!
Saturday Market in Lazaro Cardenas Park: Venustiano Carranza 146-200
You may have to look around for her but she’s close to the gazebo thingy in the middle of the park.
This burrito is soooo damn good — highly recommend it. It was also MASSIVE! Perfect for a Saturday when you aren’t doing much because after finishing it all — I was so dead. Also, check out my review of Burning Burrito, if you’re looking for more of a sit down spot.
