Puerto Vallarta After Hurricane Priscilla: Malecon Construction Update

Its no secret by now Mexico experiences hurricanes. They are often not really a BIG story in Puerto Vallarta, so I have read. But they often will clip the bay or some of the storm will affect with storm surge.

With the recent season in 2025, Hurricane Priscilla came by with HUGE waves hitting Puerto Vallarta, as you’ll see in the video below:

Given the waves that we were experiencing, I’m not sure why they thought it’d be a good idea to take the iconic pirate ship — the Marigalante out to sea, but they did. And, it, indeed did NOT make it out okay.

However, there was no one hurt.

This came at a time when the Malecon was already well under construction with a lot of improvements. But the construction work has started back up… but even that has been met with some controversy. I’m not going to get into that here but I did talk a bit about it in this video (make sure you watch all the way til the end):

Given that there is construction, hurricane season, and general rain and what not happening — that is all normal. I wanted to let you know that it is still very much POPPIN’ off on the ground here, and we’re all here enjoying the Mexican sunshine and all of what PV has to offer.

If you’re wondering is Puerto Vallarta safe? Check out this post where I go into detail about it. Please don’t believe the misinformation and propaganda you’re probably seeing and hearing a lot of in the states.
