How to Get an Uber from Puerto Vallarta (PVR) Airport in 2025

¡Bienvenidos a México!

Book your trip directly through the map below:

Update: October 29th, 2025 — It seems as though all of the below may change soon, per the law here. I will update this post when the change is confirmed.

You’ve trekked your way all the way to PVR but now what? Well, you need to get to your accomodations. The easy way, ignore everything in the airport and walk outside and turn to your left, and then turn to your left again. Keep reading and I’ll show/explain more… but first: If you haven’t booked your stay yet check out my favorite places to stay here.

Uber (and DiDi/inDriver) can’t legally pick you up inside PVR. You’ll need to walk a few minutes outside the airport to one of three easy pickup spots. Drop-offs inside the airport are fine.

You’ll want to use my code to get 80% off 3 Uber trips while you’re in town! If you don’t have Uber, and would like to sign-up, you can sign-up and use my code: 7nujnj16wbtz.

First: What you cannot do

  • No in-terminal pickups. Even if the app lets you drop the pin inside, drivers can’t enter. Don’t offer extra cash to tempt them—if they’re caught, their car can be towed and they’re out of work for days.

  • If you must be picked up right at the terminal door, use the official airport taxis.

Your 3 Best Pickup Spots (outside the airport)

This is the pedestrian bridge that you’ll need to cross to get the Uber.

1) Pedestrian Bridge (pictured above)→ National Car Rental area (Most known spot; best if you’re heading North/Nayarit)

  • Exit the terminal and cross the pedestrian bridge. Walk past the bus stop toward National/Enterprise car rental.

  • You’ll see private cars with hazards on—this is the “unofficial Uber zone.”

  • Heads-up: If you’re going South (Downtown/Zona Romántica/Mismaloya), this spot forces drivers to fight traffic north, loop around, then head south—slow and wasteful. Use Spot #2 or #3 instead.

2) Pedestrian Bridge → “La Taquiza” / Budget corner (Best if you’re going South/Downtown/ZR/Mismaloya)

  • After crossing the pedestrian bridge, go the opposite direction of the bus stop toward La Taquiza and the Budget/Payless corner (at Laurel St.).

  • This saves 10–30 minutes vs. making your driver loop. Drivers can quickly turn onto local streets and be headed south fast.

3) Flat sidewalk to Avis / Hotel One (No stairs/ramps; great with luggage; best for South)

  • From the terminal exit, turn right and walk the flat sidewalk ~7 minutes (about ½ km) to the Avis / Hotel One area and open-air lot.

  • Smooth roll for suitcases, no bridge. Works for South, and sometimes North if traffic is light.

Pro Tips (Read these before you request)

  • Set an accurate pin. Make sure your pickup point is outside the airport at one of the 3 spots above.

  • Expect a local call/message. Drivers often call from a 322-308-XXXX number to confirm your exact location. If your pin is still inside the airport, the driver is waiting unpaid until you walk out—so move first, then request.

  • Time on foot: From the unofficial pickup areas back to the terminal, budget 10–15 minutes at an easy pace.

  • Accessibility: Avoid the bridge with Spot #3 (Avis/Hotel One) if you have heavy luggage or mobility needs.

  • Vehicle size: XL/large vehicles pop up, but aren’t guaranteed. If you’re 4 people with big bags, consider two cars or be patient for an XL.

  • Drop-offs are allowed: Drivers can drop you inside the airport on departure day.

Which spot should I use?

  • Heading North (Marina, Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz, Punta Mita, Sayulita): Use Spot #1 (National/Enterprise area).

  • Heading South (Hotel Zone, Downtown/Centro, Zona Romántica, Conchas Chinas, Mismaloya): Use Spot #2 (La Taquiza/Budget corner) or Spot #3 (Avis/Hotel One flat route).

Quick FAQ

Can Uber pick up inside PVR? No. If the app lets you drop a pin inside, it’s still not allowed.

I’m tired and it’s hot—what’s the least effort plan? Skip the bridge and use Spot #3 (Avis/Hotel One). Flat sidewalk, no stairs.

How will I know my driver found me? Answer calls/texts (often 322-308-XXXX). Share live location if you’re comfortable. Set the pin exactly where you’re standing.

What if I’m going south but I requested from the National area? Your driver has to go north first, then loop back south—expect delays. Cancel and re-request at La Taquiza/Budget or Avis/Hotel One to save time.

How far is the walk? To Avis/Hotel One: about 7 minutes / ½ km. Across the pedestrian bridge to the pickup zones: just a few minutes once you’re over.

Are airport taxis faster? They’re the only option for true curbside pickup at the terminal. You’ll pay a premium for that convenience.

Friendly reminder

This guide is based on an experienced local Uber driver’s detailed post plus community Q&A. Things can change with traffic, construction, or policy—always follow the app and any posted signs, and be patient with drivers during rush times.
