The Best Birria in Puerto Vallarta (75 Pesos & Worth Every Bite)

The best birria in Puerto Vallarta at Taqueria De Birria El Banquito

I’m on a mission in Puerto Vallarta — and today’s mission was simple: find the best birria in town.

@nickguillory I’m starting a new series where I look for some of the best food in Puerto Vallarta up first finding the best birria tacos… and guys I think I found it! This spot is located in Centro Puerto Vallarta Mexico — and it’s called taqueria de birria el Banquito! And when I tell you, these are some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life, baby. You know I’m not lying to y’all. Everyone kept whispering about this little spot. You know the kind. No big sign, no influencer hype, just locals who know. So of course, I had to see if they actually knew what they were doing.

Getting there? A little chaotic.
Wrong turn. Redirect. Map check. Another turn too fast. But baby — we were not leaving without birria.

And when I tell you… the universe rewarded me.

Taquería de Birria El Banquito (The Moment I Knew)

Me holding up the taco for you to see the GOODNESS.

We finally found it. Doors still open. Crisis averted.

Then the food arrived.

And honestly?
I blacked out a little.

A plate of birria tacos, glistening and golden. A rich, deep consomé on the side, looking dangerously flavorful. Steam rising. Meat falling apart. Everything exactly how it should be.

I dipped.
I bit.
I ascended.

The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor — not dry, not greasy, not shy. Every bite hit. The consomé? Dark, rich, and comforting in a way only birria can be. The kind that makes you pause mid-chew and rethink your entire food ranking system.

And the price?

75 pesos.
Yes. Seventy. Five. Pesos.

I almost passed out again.

SO DAMN GOOD!

My Honest Rating

Food: 10/10
Vibe: 10/10 (local, casual, no frills — exactly how birria should be)
Will I go again: Absolutely. This is hands-down the best birria I’ve ever had.

Final Thoughts

This is why I love eating in Puerto Vallarta. The best meals aren’t always at the fanciest restaurants — they’re at the spots locals swear by, the ones you almost miss if you blink.

So if you’re in PV and craving birria that will change your life a little, Taquería de Birria El Banquito is it.

Now it’s your turn.

Where should I eat next in Puerto Vallarta?
