25 Best Solo Travel Destinations for Black Gay Men in 2026 (Safe, Fun and LGBTQ-Friendly)

Guys, if there is anything you’ll know and learn from me by reading my blog is — I don’t deal with naysayers, drama, and bs when I travel. I really don’t have the time to deal with that any time but especially when I’m traveling. I generally want to do my own thing, or if I’m with someone else, I’m open to their opinions, too, but let’s be real… we’re NOT with the sh*ts over here. If you have an attitude — the first sight of it — I’m out and immediately checked out. LOL — I sound miserable, but I’m really not. I just feel like if you’re traveling all this way, why not make it luxe, fabulous, and hella gay.

My first trip abroad–to Thailand via China

So that’s why I generally travel alone. I love it. 10 years ago, I was supposed to go on a trip to Thailand and the gay friend of mine that I was going with canceled at the last minute. It was due to work. No hard feelings but that low key p*ssed me off. Like, how am I gonna make this work now? Baby, I said we going anyway. I got on that plane and trekked halfway around the world at 28 years old… NOT KNOWING JACK SHIT. But I made it work. I navigating all by myself by accident. Its amazing how powerful solo traveling can make you feel. How empowering it can be is truly remarkable. Now, I no longer or rarely travel with other people. Because I just can’t be bothered with other people’s insecurities, drama, or the classic cases of “I don’t wanna do that.”

That’s why I created this list. I want more people to be like me and travel the world FREELY, SAFELY, and go where were are fully SEEN.

With that being said, let’s dive purse (or luggage first) into this list hunnnnni.

When you’re a Black gay man traveling solo, the destination absolutely matters. We’re not just looking for pretty beaches and good food — we’re looking for safety, community, men who see us, and places where we don’t have to shrink or code-switch just to exist.

And trust me, after traveling through Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia… I’ve learned which cities give what they need to give.

Below is the official Black Gay Boy Abroad “Yas Score™” List — where I break down 25 places Black gay men love to solo travel, why the galssss are flocking there, and what kind of vibe you can expect when you land.
