The Best Chinese Food in Puerto Vallarta — Reviews of Fei Long, Canto, and Hong Hua Comida China
Now listen — if you’ve been in Puerto Vallarta for more than a few weeks, you know that sometimes… you just need a break from tacos.
Don’t get me wrong — I love me some Mexican food — but every now and then, my soul starts calling for something else. Something salty, savory, wok-fried, and preferably served with chopsticks.
So, naturally, I went on a little Chinese food adventure around Vallarta to see what I could find.
Here are my honest thoughts — from a few local gems to a new spot trying to make its mark.
Fei Long – Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Chinese Food
Sometimes I’m craving fried chicken and this is one of the few places in town that has it, that I like! :)
Food: 7.5/10
Vibe: Chill and cozy — and get this, you can bring your own booze.
Will I Go Again: Absolutely.
Fei Long surprised me. It’s tucked away just outside of Zona Romántica, in the Cinco neighborhood — only a quick ride or walk depending on where you’re staying. The food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor, but I will say… it was salty. Like, "I need a whole liter of water after this" salty. But still, it hit the spot. For the price and the portions, you can’t really go wrong.
Absolutely divine General Tso’s Chicken
Canto – Authentic Cantonese Flavors in the Heart of PV
Delicious and really sweet and savory Orange Chicken and fluffy white rice at Canto
Food: 9/10
Vibe: Sleek, modern, and surprisingly chill even late at night.
Will I Go Again: Yes, but my wallet will need to prepare first.
Canto is that girl. If you’re craving upscale Cantonese-style Chinese food with flavor that punches you in the mouth (in the best way), this is your spot. The only critique — the rice was a bit mushy. But everything else? Unreal. The seasoning, the sauces, the presentation — even the martini I had was delectable.
The staff were also incredibly kind. I came in close to closing time and they still let me dine in peace without rushing me. A small thing, but it goes a long way. Canto is located right in Zona Romántica, so it’s perfect for a dinner before hitting the bars or Malecon.
Hong Hua Comida China
Buffet line at Hong Hua Comida China
Food: 8/10 for what it is… like its take out buffet style but its enough food for a few meals
Vibe: Fast-casual, no-frills, and perfect if you just need something quick.
Will I Go Again: Maybe — depends on the craving.
Hong Hua is a new Chinese spot in PV, near Farmacia Guadalajara, and it’s giving quick takeout vibes. Think: orange chicken, fried rice, and sweet-and-sour everything. If you’re looking for a sit-down dining experience, this ain’t that, however, they do have a few seats and tables inside. But if you’re craving something fast, familiar, and fried, it’ll do the trick.
Final Thoughts
Puerto Vallarta isn’t exactly overflowing with Chinese restaurants — but the few that are here have character, flavor, and charm. Whether you’re in the mood for a proper dine-in experience or just need something comforting between tacos, these spots bring a little piece of Asia to the coast of Jalisco.
If you’ve tried any other Chinese spots in PV that I need to know about, drop them in the comments — because I’m definitely doing a round two.
