My First Time at a Mexican Tianguis in Puerto Vallarta

Call it brave, call it cultured, call it whatever you want. I am definitely not going to live somewhere and completely ignore where I am. I’m going to live like a local, and I love when people notice that I am putting that in my life. Someone wrote the following on a recent post and it touched my heart:

Recent YouTube comment on BlackGayBoyAbroad, if you’re not following me there, what are you waiting for?

Me looking through clothes at the Tianguis (aka the Mexican Swap Meet).

A tianguis is a traditional open-air market in Mexico and Central America, dating back to pre-Hispanic times, where locals sell everything from agricultural goods to modern products, often held on specific days and sometimes themed for holidays or special items.

This particular one can be found in Puerto Vallarta on Saturdays (the best way to find it is clicking here).

You can find clothing, food, pets (yes, I saw glow in the dark fish), electronics, pots, knives, machete’s… literally EVERYTHING. And, all for reasonable prices, too.

Put this on the check list of things to do if you want the authentic Mexican experience next time you’re in Vallarta.

Check out the video below to see what I got on my first time haul:

And, then, watch me installing the water pump — lol. I love it!

And I have to say, this was the best birria I’ve had here in Mexico… wow, wow, wow. The food was the best part. Very authentic and reasonably priced. There were also places to get fruits and veggies, too. I will definitely be back.

Are you going to check this out next time you’re in town? Comment below…
