Gay Cruising in Puerto Vallarta: Where Gay Men Go to Meet, Mingle & Play
As someone that has been coming to Puerto Vallarta and I even lived there at one point, baby, I have been around the block a couple of times. HAHA!
In recent years, I have stepped up my public crusiing game. The older I get, the freakier I get, I guess? Well, I’m sure you’re not coming to PV to knit under a cocount tree at Mantamar, so let’s make sure you have a memorable moment? Yes.
But first I did want to make yo aware of my 50+ page guide that has everything you need to know about Vallarta. The place we all love, but maybe don’t know how to navigate safely. I got you covered boo. Get your copy here.
Back to the other fun stuff. Ok, lissennnnn. Think of me as your daddy that is gonna teach ya a thing or two, ok? All your secrets are safe with me.
Just a quick note before we start, when booking your hotel, just know that the majority of this scene is concentrated in and around Zona Romántica, so you can easily go from dinner to a gay bar to a sauna or cruising venue without having to trek across the entire city.
This guide is about adult gay nightlife and cruising spaces, not the regular gay bars and clubs. If you're looking for drag shows, dancing and cocktails, check out this post.
So… What Exactly Is the Gay Cruising Scene Like in Puerto Vallarta?
Let me be clear: cruising in PV can mean different things depending on the venue.
Some places are traditional gay bars that have a more adult vibe. Others are specifically designed for men looking to meet other men. And then you have places like Spartacus, which is a full-on men's sauna and bathhouse.
The nice thing about PV is that you don't necessarily have to commit to one type of experience. You can have drinks, meet people, dance, and then decide where the night goes from there. Next thing you know, your ass is hobbling over cobblestones walking home at 4am filled with 🫢.
Here are the places I'd know about before visiting…

1. STUDS Bar Puerto Vallarta
Hosting Bear Week in Puerto Vallarta at Studs
Best for: Bears, leather, daddies, gear nights & a more adult bar scene
Where: Zona Romántica
Vibe: Dark, loud, masculine and unapologetically gay
STUDS is probably one of the first places that comes to mind when people talk about the more adult side of Puerto Vallarta's gay nightlife.
It's a multi-level bear/leather-oriented bar with DJs, dancing, go-go entertainment and a dark-room component. The weekly theme nights are a big part of the appeal, with things like underwear, jockstrap and fetish nights. That dark room is 😅… Lord have mercy. Some times its soooo packed but others you can walk in there and find a good throat, ass, or dick to make all your PV dreams c*m true. In fact, you may walk away with more loads than you can really count. TBH.
And here's the thing about STUDS: you don't have to be a bear or a leather guy to go.
The crowd is pretty mixed, and you'll see everything from bears and daddies to younger guys, muscle guys and tourists who are simply curious about the scene.
One thing I would absolutely do before walking in: ask about the cover charge. The cover charge fluctuates and it is sometimes a thing and sometimes not….so don't assume every night is the same.
Also, respect the privacy rules. STUDS has restrictions around photography and video of other guests, and honestly, that's a good thing in a venue like this.
And, if you’re coming for Bear Week, make sure you watch my review below:
2. Club-Sauna Spartacus
Its DARK, its MOODY, its SEXY! Step inside…
Best for: The full bathhouse experience
Where: 240 Lázaro Cárdenas, Zona Romántica
Vibe: Big, social, men-only and very much part of the PV experience
If you're looking for the classic gay bathhouse experience in Puerto Vallarta, this is the one you're going to hear about over and over.
Spartacus is a men-only, 18+ sauna and bathhouse with multiple levels, steam rooms, a dry sauna, jacuzzi, pool, showers, lockers, private cabins, bars and a rooftop area. The official site describes it as a place to relax, socialize and connect, and its current schedule runs late into the night, with extended hours on Thursday through Sunday.
And honestly, the size is part of the experience.
This isn't some tiny sauna where you walk in, look around and wonder where everybody is. There's enough going on that you can hang out, have a drink, use the facilities, socialize and see what the vibe is like before deciding what you want to do.
Current pricing varies by day, so check Spartacus directly before you go. Their current listed rates range from 200 MXN to 500 MXN depending on the day, with separate pricing for private cabins.
My advice?
Go later in the evening if you're specifically interested in the social/cruising side of the experience. And remember: you don't have to do anything just because you're there.
Sometimes the best part is simply walking around, having a drink and seeing what kind of crowd is there that night.
3. BOYS PV Cruising Bar
Best for: A dedicated cruising-bar experience
Where: Ignacio L. Vallarta 264 & Lázaro Cárdenas
Vibe: Newer, masculine, industrial and late-night
To be fair, I haven’t been here yet… but I’ve heard good things! BOYS PV is one of the newer additions to the Puerto Vallarta scene, opening in 2026 directly below Spartacus in Zona Romántica. It's specifically positioned as a cruising bar, with a men-only cruising area inside.
PRIME street corner action. The location is actually pretty convenient because you're basically sitting in the middle of the gay nightlife action.
You can grab a drink, see what's happening, and you're literally steps away from Spartacus and several other gay bars.
The vibe is different from a traditional gay club. You're not necessarily going there because you want to spend three hours watching a drag show. You're there because you want to socialize and meet other men in a more adult environment.
And because this is a newer venue, I'd check its current hours and events before heading over. The scene in PV changes quickly, especially during Pride, New Year's and other major travel weeks.

4. Club Jets PV - All Male
Best for: Late nights, dancing, men-only cruising & a more underground vibe
Where: Insurgentes, Zona Romántica
Vibe: Techno, dark, late-night and very adult
Club Jets is where things start feeling less like “gay bar” and more like “okay, we're officially in the after-hours part of the night.”
It's a men-only, clothing-optional venue that combines electronic music with a sex-positive cruising environment. Current listings show it operating primarily Thursday through Sunday into the early morning.
This is definitely one for the people who want something a little more adventurous.
If you're expecting a brightly lit cocktail bar with a cute patio, wrong place.
If you like underground music, late nights and a more uninhibited adult atmosphere, this is much more your speed.
And because the venue can shift between club and cruising environments depending on the night, check what event is happening before you go.
Jet’s Naked Cruise is a fun excursion adventure in PV that you may want to consider doing if you’d like to make it a day!
Not only does Jets offer this as a cruising spot… Have you given their nude beach option any thought? And, if you use my code NICKG at Check Out you’ll get a discount! :) Book here today and don’t forget to insert my code.
5. Eagle PV
Best for: Leather, fetish, masculine energy & cruising
Where: Lázaro Cárdenas, Zona Romántica
Vibe: Dark, masculine and leather-forward
Eagle PV is another option for guys who want the more masculine/fetish side of the gay scene.
It's a relatively newer addition to PV's nightlife lineup and leans heavily into the leather and fetish-bar aesthetic, with a cruising-friendly environment and darker spaces.
If you're familiar with the Eagle-style bar scene in other cities, you'll probably understand the assignment immediately.
If you're not?
Think leather, gear, guys, drinks and a much more adult atmosphere than your average gay cocktail bar.
6. Pool Club PV at Casa Cupula
Best for: Daytime socializing, clothing-optional pool parties
Where: Amapas
Vibe: Pool, sunshine, cocktails and a much more relaxed atmosphere
Okay, this one isn't technically a cruising bar or bathhouse, but I'm including it because the adult gay social scene in PV isn't limited to nighttime.
Pool Club PV at Casa Cupula is an LGBTQ+-friendly, adult-oriented pool club with clothing-optional events, including recurring NKD pool parties.
This is much more of a daytime social environment than a traditional cruising venue.
Think: drinks, pool, sun, guys and conversation.
It's also a good reminder that if you're looking for the more adult side of PV, you don't necessarily have to wait until midnight. Looking for a hotel and want it based on vibes? Check out this post and you’ll find what you’re looking for — for every vibe.
What About the Gay Beach?
This is where I want to make an important distinction.
Yes, the gay-popular stretch of Playa Los Muertos is a major part of Puerto Vallarta's gay social scene. But a gay beach is not automatically a cruising venue.
Don't be that tourist.
Public sexual activity and nudity aren't something you should assume is acceptable simply because you're sitting on the gay section of the beach.
If you're specifically looking for a clothing-optional/adult beach experience, there are private experiences such as Jet's Naked Beach that are designed for adults and reached by boat. Scroll back up if you’re looking for details on this experience. I offer a special discount using my code NICKG.
That's a very different situation from turning a public beach into your personal hookup spot.

When Should You Go Cruising in Puerto Vallarta?
This depends on what you're looking for.
🌅 Afternoon
This is more about pool clubs, beach time and socializing. My favorite time to go is on the weekend — mainly Sunday afternoon after a few beers — to lighten the mood. After the sun sets. OOF. I am horny AF… and need attention lol.
Head to the gay beach or a pool venue and see where the day takes you.
🍸 Early evening
Start with dinner and drinks.
Zona Romántica is extremely walkable, so you can easily move between restaurants, bars and nightlife venues.
🌙 Late night
This is when the more adult side of the scene really starts to pick up.
Spartacus, STUDS, BOYS PV and Club Jets all operate late, although hours vary by venue and day.
🌅 VERY late night
If you're still going at 3 or 4 AM, you're officially in after-hours territory.
PV has a growing after-hours scene during major travel periods, with some events running into the early morning.
A Few Things I Wish Every First-Timer Knew
Don't assume everyone wants to hook up.
This should be obvious, but apparently it needs to be said.
Someone being in a cruising bar doesn't mean they're interested in you. Read the room, respect boundaries and take rejection like an adult.
Keep your phone away.
Especially in adult spaces.
Not everybody wants to end up accidentally appearing in somebody else's vacation vlog, Instagram Story or group chat.
And some venues have explicit photography restrictions.
Bring protection.
If you're going to participate in sexual activity, bring what you need to protect yourself. Don't assume the venue will have exactly what you want.
Don't get sloppy drunk.
You're in another country, potentially meeting strangers, and you're dealing with crowded nightlife spaces.
Have fun. But keep enough of your brain online to know what's happening around you.
Watch your belongings.
This is especially important in crowded nightlife environments. Keep your phone, wallet and other valuables secure rather than casually leaving them somewhere.
Check the rules before you go.
Hours, covers, theme nights, dress codes and event policies can change — particularly around Pride, New Year's and other major event periods.
So… Is Puerto Vallarta Good for Gay Cruising?
If you're looking for an adult gay nightlife scene, yes, there's a lot happening.
What makes Puerto Vallarta interesting is the variety. You can spend the afternoon at the beach, have dinner in Zona Romántica, grab drinks at a regular gay bar, hit STUDS or Spartacus and then decide whether you're calling it a night or continuing into the early morning.
You don't have to do any of it, obviously.
But if you're the type of gay traveler who wants to know where the adult side of the city actually is, now you know.
And honestly, that's the thing I like about Puerto Vallarta: you can make your trip as tame or as messy as you want.
Just know what kind of night you're signing up for.
