If you’ve been to Puerto Vallarta, you know this place is buzzing with bars and FIESTAS — especially in high season. Which, if you didn’t know — the popular time to visit PV is October-March. The other times are a little less buzzy. But still a good time. Take it from me, I lived here full-time.

I refreshed this for 2026. Every bar below was still open as of this update, but bars in PV open, close and rebrand constantly, so double check Instagram before you head out. And quick heads up: the Zona Romántica is in the middle of a street refresh, so expect some torn-up sidewalks on the walk between bars.

Puerto Vallarta has one of the most vibrant gay bar scenes in the world — but let’s be real, your go-to spot says a lot about who you are. I thought it would be fun to do a little breakdown of what your favorite bar says about you. LOL! ;)
Mr. Flamingo (aka the Midwest’s Favorite)
Nine times out of ten, if this is your bar, you love nostalgic early 2000s music and carefree vibes. You’re most likely white (no shade — I go there, too 😉). It’s the perfect spot for singalongs and dancing like nobody’s watching. They play all the fave divas that we all know and love from Mariah Carey to Christina Aguilera to Rihanna to Britney.
CC Slaughters (CC’s)
If you love CC’s, you’re the type who likes to kick back, people-watch, and enjoy a good drag show. This spot is entertainment central, and their drag lineup is unmatched. They are a popular stop for some of the famous RuPaul gals, here I am with Alexis Mateo. We love her!
Paco’s Ranch — Selena performer — Puerto Vallarta’s BEST Drag Show!
Let’s be clear: Paco’s is the drag institution of Puerto Vallarta. If this is your spot, you love immersing yourself in local culture. You know about that legendary 3 AM show — and those dancers? Get ready to be gagged, baby. They are FIONNNNNNNNE. Only come here if you are not scared of staying out past 2,3,4, maybe 5. LOL! I get caught up in all that action going on there and end up staying out way too late.
Spartacus
If Spartacus is your bar of choice, well… we know exactly what you like to get down with 😉. No shame in that — just be safe and have your fun. My only tip here is go on a Friday night before the bars or dip over if you wanna take a break from your friends. Some of the hottest guys in the city head here… Pro Tip: There’s a bar on the top floor, and a pool. If you wanna cool off from all the steam.
La Noche
One of my favorites! If La Noche is your go-to, you love a beautiful rooftop, fun dancers, and an upscale vibe. This bar is stunning, and rumor has it it’s up for sale for $20 million. Buy it if you can, because the vibes are priceless and I’d love to see it get some new charm/vibes.
Mantamar Beach Club
If you’re a Mantamar fan, you’re probably a circuit queen (and that’s okay!). This spot is all about Speedos, pool parties, and the sun-soaked social scene. Not totally my vibe, but if it’s yours — werk!
Tryst
The new kid on the block. If you love Tryst, you’re about nostalgic L.A. nightlife vibes, brunch parties, and drag entertainment. Their Sunday brunch is iconic — it feels like old-school West Hollywood in the best way.
Studs
If Studs is your favorite… you might be straight 😂. Between the cheeky signs outside and the infamous dark room, Studs is always a time. Enough said. Have a blast, great dark room in the back, too, if that’s your vibe!
More Gay Bars Worth Your Night (2026)
My list above is where I actually spend my nights, but PV has way more than eight bars. Here are the other spots that are open in 2026 and worth knowing about, depending on your vibe:
- Industry (Lázaro Cárdenas 258): multi-floor dance club with drag and circuit-style DJs. Saturday is the big night, and the rooftop gets going after 1 AM.
- Reinas Bar (Lázaro Cárdenas 361): campy, royal-themed bar that's all about Mexican drag. Headliners on Friday and Saturday.
- Blondies (Lázaro Cárdenas 279C, plus Los Otros Blondies on Basilio Badillo 258): slushy cocktails, small dance floors, pop and throwbacks. Cheap, sweet and dangerous.
- Apaches Martini Bar (Olas Altas 439): sidewalk martinis and the best people-watching in town. Perfect first stop.
- The Top Sky Bar (Almar Resort rooftop, Amapas 380): ocean views, sunset DJs and drag. Go for golden hour.
- Anonimo Video Bar (Rodolfo Gómez 157): music videos, sing-alongs and a long-running drag tradition.
- Bar Frida (Lázaro Cárdenas 481): long-running, friendly, local-feeling neighborhood bar.
- La Cantina Margarita (Lázaro Cárdenas 315): loud, open-air and known for huge margaritas.
- The Palm Cabaret (Olas Altas 508): sit-down cabaret with touring LGBTQ+ acts when you want a show, not a club.
- Club Jets: anonymous, high-energy, themed nights and some dark corners. Closed Tuesdays.

How to Do a Night Out in PV (Solo-Friendly)
Going out alone in PV is honestly easy because everything is a few blocks apart on or around Lázaro Cárdenas. A simple game plan: start with happy hour drinks on a patio like Mr. Flamingo or Apaches around 5 or 6, catch the sunset (The Top Sky Bar if you want the view), grab dinner, then hit a drag show at CC's or Reinas around 10 or 11. After midnight the dance clubs fill up (CC's, Industry, La Noche), and if you're still standing at 3 AM, that's Paco's Ranch time. If meeting people is the goal, a guided bar crawl your first night is a cheat code.

PV's gay scene is one of the most relaxed anywhere, but it's still a city. Watch your drink, keep your phone in your front pocket on the dance floor, carry a copy of your passport instead of the real thing, and take an Uber home if you're staying outside the Zona Romántica.
