Ocean Park has a completely different vibe. It's more residential, more laid-back and less "I'm staying at a giant resort."

This is where I'd look if you're traveling solo or want something more intimate.

Old San Juan

And then there's Old San Juan. Colorful buildings. Cobblestone streets. Historic architecture. Rooftop bars.

But I wouldn't necessarily choose it if your primary goal is being close to the gay beach and nightlife.

I'd visit Old San Juan. I just wouldn't necessarily base my entire gaycation there.

What About Black Gay Men?

Let me address this because that's literally why you're here.

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean destination with a strong African cultural influence, but being Black and being gay aren't necessarily the same experience.

Instead, I'm looking at the things that actually matter:

And if you're looking to meet other Black gay men specifically, don't assume your hotel will do all the work.

• Get out.

• Go to the beach.

• Check local events.

• Talk to people.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Puerto Rico?

☀️ December–April

Best weather, biggest crowds and higher prices.

This is peak season, so expect hotels to be more expensive.

🌴 May–June

My sweet spot.

You can still get beautiful weather without quite as much peak-season pressure.

And if you're coming for San Juan Pride, early June is an obvious choice.

Cheaper, but hurricane season.
